Food for Health Foundation

The Food for Health Foundation’s mission is to share the benefits of plant-based nutrition with people who are working to improve their own health or the health of family members or friends or those who intend to spread this message to a wider audience by providing funding for research and education. The Food for Health Foundation provides scholarships for the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies Plant-Based Nutrition eCornell Certificate Program.

Students can enroll at any time in 2018 with courses commencing at the beginning and middle of each month.

The program consists of three 2-week online courses:

1. Nutrition and Society

2. Diseases of Affluence

3. Applying the Whole Food Plant-Based Lifestyle

What You’ll Need:

Access to an internet connection and computer/tablet

4-6 hours per week for the duration of the course

What You’ll Learn:

• Understand the state of nutrition and reflect on your personal nutritional background

• Describe the role of macronutrients in the functioning of the body

• Recognize how government and industry can affect dietary choices and the environment

• Explain the role of nutrition in the development of chronic and degenerative diseases including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes

• Identify ways to implement whole food plant-based meals for you and your family

• Illustrate how a whole food plant-based diet can help improve strength, speed and endurance for athletic performance

• Explore the psychological reasons we are drawn to foods that do not support health

• Summarize the relationship between diet and weight loss

Accreditation

Students who successfully complete all the courses in this program receive a Plant-BasedNutrition Certificate from The T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell. The following continuing credits are available for students who complete the program:

Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Pharmacists

The certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition is currently approved for:

  • 30 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (CMEs)
  • 30 Nursing Contact Hours (CNEs)
  • 30 Hours Pharmacy CE (CPEs) (This CE activity is knowledge-based.)

Once you are successfully enrolled in the certificate program, you will have the option to register for these CE credits for an additional $125 at the beginning of CNS601: Nutrition and Society.

Dietitians

This certificate is accredited for 30 Continuing Professional Education Credits for Dietitians (30 CPEUs). Accreditation is through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Credits are self-reported on the CDR website. No additional fee is required for these credits.

National Strength and Conditioning Association

This certificate is accredited for 2.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for National Strength and Conditioning Association members. More information concerning membership in the NSCA can be found on their website.

No additional fee is required for these credits.
