About Yello! Your Local Creative Arts and Events Center

Yello is a dynamic, creative arts facility in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Located conveniently on Commercial Boulevard, Yello offers an array of classes including ballet, jazz, hip hop, break dance, belly dance, lyrical, tap, ballroom, and so much more. In addition to the studio’s contribution to the arts, Yello advocates health and wellness for everyone and welcomes people of all ages. Marisa HormelFounder

Marisa is a graduate of Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and a graduate of New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While in NYC, she worked as a stockbroker having obtained both the Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. She is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild. She is a proud sponsor of the New York Foundation for the Arts, Chillfest, the Professional Dancers Society, the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, the Organic Consumers Association, and the Organic Farming Research Foundation.

Amber DorskyStudio Manager

Amber spent her youth in dance studios across the country and has worked in the arts as a performer, teacher, and advocate her entire life. Before joining Yello she enjoyed a career in communications, directing public relations efforts for esteemed non-profit organizations, such as the Miami City Ballet, Central Park SummerStage, Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, Battery Park Dance Festival, The Village Vanguard, and several high-profile recording artists. At Yello, she has found the perfect environment to nurture a new generation of dancers and art enthusiasts as well as fostering health and happiness for all.

Cassandra CardenasMarketing and Events Coordinator

Cassandra comes to Yello with experience as a dancer, choreographer, and marketer. A graduate of Otterbein University, Cassandra majored in both dance and broadcast media. She relocated to Fort Lauderdale in 2014 to further pursue a career in the arts and media relations.  At Yello, Cassandra puts her knowledge and passion to good use, overseeing a growing roster of unique events at Yello’s Studio Z and choreographing for community-based events, such as Christmas by the Sea.

Diane BradfordChef

Diane firmly believes that food is medicine. After being vegetarian for decades, Diane found herself battling arthritis which ultimately upended a successful photojournalism career. Wanting to improve her own personal health, Diane became 100% vegan and has since dedicated her life to helping others gain a whole food, plant-based understanding and approach to eating. She is a certified raw and vegan chef and a graduate of eCornell’s Plant-Based Nutrition program. She has developed concepts and menus for area establishments and has served as a private wellness chef.  Today, Diane’s top priority is keeping Yello’s kitchen filled with organic, nutritious, plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free foods.

Jennifer QuinnFinance Manager

Jennifer oversees finance, policies, procedures, and legal affairs. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University in Southern California. Her clients include high-tech companies, not-for-profit organizations, and high-end fashion designers.

Mary Ellen KriegerCreative Director

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Pennsylvania State University and after studying design abroad in Rome through Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, Mary Ellen has practiced graphic design for over twenty five years. She began her career in Los Angeles, developing an expertise in identity design and system development for a range of clients. She continued to grow her career in New York City and eventually found her way to Yello where she oversees all things “visual”.

Noelia Bloom (Nellie)Studio Administrator

A Fort Lauderdale native, Nellie was raised in a house full of artists — her father and brothers are talented musicians and her mother was a published poet, painter, photographer, and dancer. Nellie, herself, enjoys experimenting with all kinds of musical instruments, dance disciplines, and mixed art styles. She has studied environmental science and is currently working towards a degree in Veterinary Technology. Working at Yello simply feels like an extension of home and she especially loves seeing new students take that first step of courage into the dance studio.

Karen BealStudio Z Manager

With over 15 years of restaurant and event management experience, Karen uses her trademark skills of problem solving, creativity, and flexibility to help clients produce unforgettable events. Some of her past clients have included national organizations and tech companies as well as numerous wedding receptions, birthday parties, and baby showers. Karen holds a B.S. in psychology from Nova Southeastern University and a M.A. in health education and promotion from the University of Alabama. At Yello, you will find her happily buzzing about Studio Z preparing for both our in-house and event space functions.
